Historic Downtown Richmond is one of the finest restored 19th century commercial districts in the state of Kentucky. Richmond was the first city in the state to receive a National Register District designation and boast over 100 buildings on the National Register Districts. The Downtown Commercial District is the proud home of fine retail and antique stores, restaurants, businesses; and financial, legal and governmental agencies. Quality merchandise and outstanding service are out hallmark. Downtown Richmond is great place to shop, dine, work, do business and live.

Richmond, founded in 1798 by Revolutionary War soldier Colonel John Miller, is the county seat for Madison County.  It is one of Kentucky’s most historical towns with a rich history in politics. Bybee Pottery is the oldest continuing pottery west of the Alleghenies.  Boonesborough was the first settlement in Kentucky.  Historical Downtown Richmond, the center of the Richmond Main Street program, offers residents and tourists the opportunity to learn about the past through its tourist sites, as well as the opportunity to enjoy fine restaurants and unique stores.
